Foxconn Designed Its Entire Houston AI Factory Inside NVIDIA Omniverse Before Breaking Ground
The 242,287-square-foot Texas plant building NVIDIA's GB300 servers proves that digital-twin validation has become a prerequisite for large-scale manufacturing.

The Factory That Existed Digitally First
Foxconn acquired the Fairbanks Logistics Park in northwest Houston in June 2025 for $142 million, committing $450 million total to convert the 1 million-square-foot industrial campus into an AI server manufacturing hub. The centerpiece is a 242,287-square-foot facility producing NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 AI infrastructure systems.
Before a single wall went up, engineers ran the entire building through a digital twin. Siemens, the first company to develop digital twin software supporting the Mega NVIDIA Omniverse Blueprint, provided the tech stack to assemble and validate every mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system virtually. The approach is what Foxconn and NVIDIA call "factory-born digital."
What the Mega Omniverse Blueprint Does
The Mega NVIDIA Omniverse Blueprint extends well beyond facility design. Once the building's systems are locked in virtually, the same environment becomes the training ground for the robot fleets that will actually run the plant.
Engineers use NVIDIA Isaac Sim to design, simulate, and validate autonomous mobile robots before physical deployment. FANUC and Foxconn's Fii division are among the first robot manufacturers to support 3D, OpenUSD-based digital twins of their hardware, which lets engineers drag equipment into the factory model and run it through scenarios before any steel is bolted to the floor.
NVIDIA PhysicsNeMo handles real-time thermal analysis through an AI surrogate model, critical for a facility packing this density of compute hardware. NVIDIA Metropolis vision AI agents cover operational monitoring and quality control once the lines are running.
Jensen Huang's Case for the Digital Twin Mandate
NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang showcased the Foxconn project during his keynote at GTC Washington, D.C. on October 28, 2025. His framing treated the digital twin as a technical necessity that construction now depends on.
"The factory is essentially a robot that's orchestrating robots to build things that are robotic," Huang said on stage.
He put it more bluntly when explaining the scale of software complexity involved: "The amount of software necessary to do this is so intense that unless you could do it inside a digital twin, the hopes of getting this to work is nearly impossible."
What Foxconn Gets Out of It
Leo Guo, General Manager of Foxconn's Fii Robotic Group, framed the payoff in commercial terms. "If you think about time to revenue, factory setup, and factory planning, we believe that we can cut that down by about 50%," Guo said, describing the ability to "model everything in a virtual environment to make sure everything fits and there are no obstructions."
That 50% figure is the number that changes the economics of building advanced manufacturing facilities at speed. A plant this complex, designed to produce server racks dense with the latest GPU hardware, carries enormous risk if physical construction reveals a conflict between systems.
The Humanoid Layer
The Houston plant is also positioned as a proving ground for humanoid robots in high-volume electronics manufacturing. NVIDIA and Foxconn are targeting Q1 2026 to deploy robots powered by the NVIDIA Isaac GR00T N model on the production lines, making this one of the first factories to run humanoid hardware assembling AI infrastructure systems.
Foxconn Chairman Young Liu stated: "Foxconn and NVIDIA share an excellent partnership. Our team is bringing the most advanced AI data center solutions to the United States, which will help our leading customers stay ahead in the AI race."
The production scope extends beyond Houston. Foxconn is scaling AI server manufacturing across Texas, Wisconsin, and California, with the Houston plant serving as the benchmark configuration for what that rollout looks like.
Why This Reads as a Turning Point
Foxconn is the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer, producing hardware for Apple, NVIDIA, and most of the major compute platforms. When a company of that operational scale treats a physics-accurate digital twin as the prerequisite step before construction, the signal carries weight.
The Houston project combines three threads that are each significant on their own: a $450 million commitment to domestic AI server production, a full Omniverse-based design-and-validate workflow run before any physical work, and a humanoid robot deployment timed to the product launch of NVIDIA's GB300 generation. The combination inside one 242,287-square-foot building in northwest Houston is the clearest industrial-scale proof yet that spatial computing tools have moved from the visualization category into the construction and manufacturing workflow.
