How to Explain a Defense System in the Three Minutes You Actually Get

When your product ships in a 20-foot container and your buyer gives you three minutes, the material has to do work that a spec sheet never can.

Some buyers give you a calendar slot and a conference room. Defense and government buyers often give you a hallway and a clock. Three minutes before they move to the next conversation, three minutes before the reception ends, three minutes at a Farnborough booth where your team has neither the actual equipment nor a reliable Wi-Fi connection.

That compression is the problem. And it's not a communications problem in the abstract. It's a very specific, very practical problem: how do you make a dense, high-stakes product legible at that speed, to a buyer who can't touch it, can't watch it operate, and may be hearing your product category for the first time?

The companies that solve this don't do it by simplifying the product. They do it by building material that can operate at the speed of the room.

ANPC (Advanced Navigation and Positioning Corporation) makes precision landing systems for the world's hardest airports. Their Transportable Transponder Landing System, the TTLS, ships in a 20-foot container. Their Expeditionary version, the ETLS, packs to pallet size, the kind that loads onto military aircraft, and deploys in 2 to 4 hours.

Their counter-UAS system integrates radar, cameras, and software from multiple manufacturers into a single air-domain picture. These are systems that protect airfields, enable precision landings in zero-visibility conditions, and keep cargo planes moving into disaster zones when conventional navigation infrastructure is down.

Explaining all of that on a spec sheet is one problem. Explaining it to a senator, a procurement officer in Brazil, or a defense buyer at a Warsaw conference, in the time you actually get, is a different problem entirely.

The technology works by being invisible

That's a feature and a marketing problem at the same time.

ANPC's precision landing systems work because pilots never know they're there. The pilot uses existing cockpit instruments. The ground-based transponder does the work invisibly. The whole value proposition is that the technology disappears into operational conditions where everything else fails.

When the product's biggest strength is its invisibility, showing it requires building something visible.

A 3D animated video was the first move. We built ANPC a cinematic walkthrough of the TTLS: the container, the antenna assemblies, the electronic racks, how the system orients to a runway and provides precision guidance even when GPS is jammed or weather closes in.

Within weeks of deployment, Megan Jackson, who manages the project on ANPC's side, reported back from a Warsaw defense conference. The Polish counterpart running the show said no changes were needed on the Polish-language version. The translation was perfect.

That's not a typical outcome for technically dense aviation content going into a Slavic language. But the more important point is what the video made possible: once the asset existed, ANPC's team could see immediately what it would take to put it in front of a buyer in Brazil, a prospect in the Middle East, an audience in Central Europe. A custom intro zooming into a specific airport site in Brazil, swapped onto the same core video, took days rather than weeks.

The asset became a base. Something that travels, gets localized, and gets adapted without rebuilding from scratch every time.

What three minutes actually demands

Chris Fountain, who works on business development for ANPC, described what happens at government and defense engagements. "At these events, you're usually like, you get to talk to them for about three minutes. And then they move on. So you have to capture their attention really fast. And having that is awesome."

The "that" he's describing is a QR code.

ANPC's ETLS is the first of their products going into augmented reality. The logic is direct: the biggest differentiator of the ETLS over the container-based TTLS is how compact and portable it is.

One pallet position on an aircraft. A few cases that field operators can pick up by hand. Individual components labeled so a team can set up in the dark using night-vision-compatible stickers.

A spec sheet conveys those dimensions as numbers. A full-scale AR model conveys them as space.

Point a phone at the QR code, anchor the model to the floor, and the ETLS trailer is standing in the room at actual field dimensions. For a product whose core value proposition is rapid deployability by people in real operational conditions, showing buyers what "rapidly deployable" looks like at true scale is the pitch.

Adelaide Walker, ANPC's account lead at Mainstay, described the plan for the ETLS video when it's produced: the video ends and hands directly to the AR experience. "See it for yourself. Scan this QR code to place the kit in space." One asset transitions into another without losing the buyer's attention at the moment they're most curious.

The AR build is in progress. The video and QR handoff are planned for delivery together.

The analytics tell you which markets are paying attention

Every AR experience we build comes with a usage dashboard. Views per user, session length, a geographic map of where launches are happening.

For ANPC, that map matters more than the raw count. Their products are sold into Singapore, Poland, Brazil, the Middle East.

The question after Farnborough isn't how many people scanned the code. The question is which region lit up in the week after, because that tells the sales team which follow-up conversation to prioritize.

Walker walked Jackson through what that looks like in practice: "Once you start sharing this, once we get that video done and we're able to put the QR code at the end, you'll be able to see how many people are using it."

The platform also gives ANPC self-service control. Jackson noted what that means for a team without a dedicated website person: "That adds a lot of value because then in between, while we're waiting for you guys to be working on stuff, we could be working on our own experiences as well." Localizing a hotspot experience for a new market, duplicating it, swapping text, doesn't require filing a request and waiting. The team closest to the customer controls the content.

The next product to explain

By mid-2026, ANPC's leadership had made a priority call: a new video for their counter-UAS solution.

Jackson described the context plainly: "The CEO basically decided that he wants to shift the priority to this counter drone video because they do find themselves out there selling this solution more so right now."

Counter-UAS is a different sale than precision landing. The threat is immediate and visible. Drones disrupting airspace, threatening critical infrastructure, complicating military operations in contested environments.

Buyer urgency is higher. Competition is crowded. The video in development is structured to lead with the threat and then walk through how ANPC's integrated solution addresses it. That structure mirrors what worked for the TTLS: context first, then the product as the answer.

The storyboard was in review as of July 2026. The asset build, including stills from CAD files of integrated components from multiple third-party radar and camera vendors, was underway.

What compression demands from the material

ANPC's situation is common for companies selling serious technical systems into government and defense markets. The product is real. The engineering is credible.

The use cases are documented. The problem is compression.

A buying cycle that should take months gets decided in the margins of a conference, in a three-minute hallway conversation, in a procurement officer's first pass through a vendor list. The sellers building durable pipelines in this environment are the ones whose material can operate at that speed.

A QR code that drops a full-scale 3D model into an office. A video that can be localized and handed to a country-specific rep without a six-week rebuild. A platform that tracks which assets are actually getting opened by which regions.

None of this replaces technical credibility. A buyer who scans the QR code still needs ANPC's engineering team to answer the hard questions.

But the seller who gets three minutes and makes those three minutes land is the one who earns the next conversation. The material has to get them there.
